Overview
Holland America is building a 86,700-ton cruise ship, the Eurodam, scheduled to enter service in July 2008. She will operate a three-day "preview cruise" in New York departing Aug. 29, 2008 followed by a season of Canada/New England voyages.
Eurodam is the first in a new class of smaller vessels called the Signature Class. New features will include a topside 144-seat restaurant and 50-seat lounge surrounded by panoramic views overlook the ocean and Lido pool. The Explorer's Lounge Bar, a wine-tasting lounge and shops will be located around the ship's atrium. Glass elevators will be located on the ship's exterior. The Culinary Arts Center will be hosted by Food & Wine Magazine and will provide cooking demonstrations and classes. Holland America's children's program will be expanded and have a teens-only loft. The Eurodam will also have premium amenities of plush Euro-top Mariner's Dream Beds, terry cloth robes, Egyptian cotton towels, flat panel TV's, DVD players, make-up mirrors, massage shower heads, professional grade hair dryers, fresh flowers and complimentary fruit basket. Inside staterooms will have blonde, maple-toned furniture to create a lighter environment, with the recessed area behind the beds painted sky-blue and covered by sheer curtains with a burn-out, wave pattern that allows hints of blue to show – in effect, creating the sense of a window," Burfiend added. The new décor will be in all staterooms on the 11-passenger deck Eurodam. For the first time on any Holland America ship, staterooms will be added to the top decks. Deck 11 just off the Crow's Nest will feature 10 French balcony-styled verandah staterooms and, just below on Deck 10, 28 staterooms with verandahs and four, forward-facing "panorama" rooms will be located. Holland America has created a blog for Eurodam where you can watch the ship being built: Eurodam News (www.eurodamnews.com).
